We are delighted to welcome the members of the Health and Sustainability Network, which has joined forces with The Campaign for Greener Healthcare. The group contains many notable public health and related professionals in the NHS, local government and the third sector and the expertise and energy of these members is a great addition to our existing group of partners and supporters.

The Climate and Health Council is part of Knowledge into Action. Their aim is to mobilise health professionals across the world to take action to limit climate change, a serious threat to human health. Any health professional and any health or health care organisation can become a member.

To achieve its aim, the Council’s members take action in five main ways. They

  • Inform about issues related to climate change and global health
  • Affirm their beliefs on a personal and professional level
  • Advocate a global framework for action
  • Innovate by developing and supporting new solutions
  • Disseminate key information to those in a position to help

You can view their constitution, and the board members, on www.climateandhealth.org. Go to the ‘Get involved’ section and sign the pledge to help guide the position of UK, European, and other Governments in post-Kyoto framework discussions (COP 15) in Copenhagen Nov/Dec 2009.
