Overview
A pan London event addressing the 3 central tenets of the Network – improving physical access, improving health, and reducing carbon emissions through the encouragement of sustainable travel. The day will raise awareness of relevant policy drivers and showcase tools, models and datasets with specific reference to travel and transport in the London NHS. The sessions will highlight the need for cross-departmental and cross-organisational working and equip individuals with the tools and knowledge to take action.
Who should attend?
Individuals with remits focusing on physical access, public/workplace health, carbon management, sustainability and travel planning at NHS organisations across London. Transport and travel planners from local government.
Service providers are invited to contact the Network if they would like to host a stand.

The model maps policy drivers in the field of sustainable travel to staff roles and responsibilities and identifies potential actions in an acute trust setting.

13:40-15:10 Afternoon Workshops (focusing on tools, models and datasets)
Workshop A: Physical Access and the Health Service Travel Analysis Tool (HSTAT)
The tool demonstrates change in accessibility and journey time (by public transport, car, cycling and walking) resulting from the changes in location of health services, including the addition of new services. PCTs must perform a travel time analysis if services are potentially to be moved.
NHS London, Commissioning support for London, TfL and Jacobs Consultancy will present the tool.
Workshop B Improving health and encouraging physical activity for health
Sustrans will present the Active Travel Toolkit and Adrian Davis will raise awareness of other relevant tools, models and datasets including HEAT – the Health Economic Assessment Tool for cycling.
Workshop C Carbon management, measurement and associated cost savings
The Sustainable Development Unit will raise awareness of relevant tools, models and datasets for the management and measurement of carbon and put these into context for the NHS whilst highlighting the financial benefits of carbon management.

Tom will present on the London Ambulance Service Cycle Response Unit highlighting improvements in access and response times, workforce health and the reduction of carbon emissions.
